few things will radicalize you like actually calling the cops for help solving a crime and getting a response that’s basically “lmao”
copaganda glosses over the fact that most police departments have awful clearance rates and the ones they do clear are usually shit like “we found the husband standing over his wife’s body holding a gun”

so when their investigative powers are actually in the spotlight they don’t hold up so well
One of the NYPD brass said “this isn’t blue bloods” when explaining they can’t just immediately find the guy and I like that years of copaganda have set standards cops can’t meet and might be contributing to people’s correct perception that cops don’t effectively stop crime or find killers.

the Adults in the Room keep telling me we need to put as much money as possible into the police in order to reduce crime but the police themselves don’t seem to really give a shit about solving any crime whatsoever
A Detective Sabotaged His Own Cases Because He Didn’t Like the Prosecutor. The Police Dept Did Nothing to Stop Him.

To protest a prosecutor, one detective was willing to let murder suspects walk free, even if he’d arrested them and believed that they should be behind bars.

you cant deter crime thru relentless force. the longer it’s applied, the more visible errors accrue & the more citizens feel occupied. distrust in authority dissolves cooperation and you can’t solve crimes without citizens’ help. when police are a community’s enemy solving crime there is impossible.

As someone who mostly reads horror, I'll never understand the vitriol towards "cozy" books. People say they are escapist, unserious, allowing readers to avoid big issues. And I'm like, girl, WHEN did your dark romance book fix society? Did I BLINK and miss your detective thriller solving crime?

The mere suggestion that the federal government would not cooperate or be devoted to solving this crime in every possible way is repulsive.

SHAME ON HIM.
John Kennedy is a disgrace at this press conference in New Orleans, unable to resist pushing distrust in federal resources under Biden even in the wake of a horrific tragedy, which is right on brand for the Republican Party. They have no shame.
