@ssfrigerio.bsky.social I find Coombs’ theory more useful because it focuses on choosing the right response based on the type of crisis. Since every crisis is different, this approach feels more practical for protecting an organization’s reputation. #Crisis5

As a crisis manager, IRT is most useful. It states that perception is more important than reality. If a brand is perceived as negative but in reality is positive, then reality doesn't matter. People are quick to shift blame & minimize situations, proving perception is everything.

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social I believe Coombs' theory is more useful. Benoit is based on assumptions. Coombs first analyzes the type of crisis and then decides which response strategy to use. The theories are similar, but Coombs is specific to the type of crisis. #Crisis5 #COM385

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social To me, the theory that I find most useful is Benoit’s Image Restoration Theory. I find the way that he breaks down the strategies very digestible, allowing for different courses of action within each individual strategy, especially evasion of responsibility.

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social I find Coombs SCCT more useful because it gives clear steps that match the type of crisis and level of responsibility. Benoit's theory lists many strategies, but SCCT helps predict reactions and chose the best response for reputation repair. #COM385#Crisis5

#crisis5 @ssfrigerio.bsky.social Benoits' and Coombs' theories differ in many ways, while trying to reach the same overall goal. I believe that Coomb's Situational Crisis Communication Theory is more effective, as it provides a framework and predictions to how stakeholders will react to a crisis.

As a crisis manager, Comb’s theory on SCCT is the most helpful. There is clear structure of all threatened parties in a crisis and the description of each facet for reputation protection examining the threats. Importantly it’s structured from threat to repair. #COM385#Crisis5 @ssfrigerio.bsky.social

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social I think that Beloitte's Image Restoration Theory is more useful as a crisis manager, due to the assumptions that impact means more than intent, and also because of the mortification and corrective action categories of solutions. Also emphasizes BOTH rep and image. #crisis5

I find Coombs (2007) to be more useful because it emphasizes the changes that need to be made during a crisis, rather than using the same approach each time. Focusing on the audience's expectations and the risks helps protect credibility and restore trust.

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social #COM385 #Crisis5 I would choose Coombs theory to be more useful as a crisis manager, as I feel you can plan more effectively rather then after. I also feel like this model is better for someone in this position who has to respond quickly and can follow the clusters to do so.

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social Coombs gives clearer guidance by matching crisis type to response, while Benoit explains repair options. I’d rely on Coombs in practice since it’s more situational and actionable. #Crisis5

I find Coombs’s Situational Crisis Communication Theory more useful because it is more on how people view responsibility, making these responses feel more genuine and effective. #COM385 @ssfrigerio.bsky.social (#crisis5)

Benoit's theory is interesting as it is helpful for creating public messages. Coomb's theory takes it to the next level by creating a more robust framework which becomes essential when dealing with high-stakes, time-sensitive crisis scenarios. #COM385 #Crisis5 @ssfrigerio.bsky.social

@ssfrigerio.bsky.social After reading Coombs and Benoit, I agree more with Coombs theory and approach to crisis management. I say this because I think it is beneficial how Coombs matches the response to the severity of the crisis and the audience reaction.

The theory I find most useful is Coombs because he explains that responses for a crisis, and the crisis itself are not always going to be the same. He also includes an SCCT chart which helps with real world crisis and what to do when dealing with a one.
