Some basic comms suggestions on the latest post 👇💋
A critique (left) of a recent social media post (right) by cdcgov on Instagram. The original post is captioned "This is what #GlobalHealthSecurity looks like. In 2025 a dangerous bacterial outbreak spread in Vietnam during peak travel season. CDC experts and local health officials moved fast— detecting the outbreak in one day, containing it to 38 cases, and stopping its spread across borders. Keeping Americans safe is our number #1 goal. #CrisisToControl." The original post also includes an image of four people in personal protective equipment - hairnets, masks, gloves, and gowns - with overlaid text saying "Outbreaks you never heard about. Outbreak in tourist hub contained before it spread. 1 day to report, 7 days to respond, 0 international spread" The post critique on the right says "Comms 101. What does 7 days to respond mean? A whole week for officials to act even thought it took 1 day to detect the outbreak? Not the flex you think it is... Be specific! A "bacterial outbreak" could be anything and doesn't tell people what was prevented. # = "number" - redundant!"
