Another wonderful obituary for the brilliant Alex Wheatle. I'm watching CRONGTON on the iPlayer now; it's absolutely essential TV, the best thing I've seen this year. If you haven't seen it yet, you must - and you must read the books too! They are modern classics.

UPDATE! We've got a BAFTA nomination AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! BAFTA has decided that a show that hooks kids into STEM subjects through the medium of fart jokes is good enough to be alongside such shows as Shaun the Sheep, Crongton and The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball! This is sooooooo cool!

RIP Alex Wheatle.

“He took it upon himself to reconnect me. He pushed CLR James’s The Black Jacobins into my eager hands. ‘This will tell you ah liccle something about where you come from and where you stand in the struggle,’ he said.”
