Where have you tried? I loved going to the nuns at Crossbush, Arundel, but it wasn't a silent retreat for me. Just a loving haven for writing.

Oh nice!! I’m looking at houses that have been defunct since Napoleonic suppression, but what a wonderful experience for you. I wrote my first book by retreating with the Poor Clare’s at Crossbush once a month. It was lovely.

The guesthouse at Crossbush has a shared kitchen, but over the couple of years that I was going every month, most of the time I hardly saw anyone. The nuns do provide lunch, though, so you eat with any other visitors. One month I met some elderly women who had been novices with one of the sisters.
