The Crossgear is hardware needed to play Crossworlds. It is the first time this sort of technology has been sold in stores. Due to how the technology works, there are no noteable performance differences between versions. Crossgear (V1) (later name) The first Crossgear model released. It only comes in a design based on spheromancers, as they were the only class when it was made. The V1 has some noteable downsides, being; The amount of space it takes up, Wires can cause neck strain and make the V1 easier to break, Difficult to lie down in which is how many prefer to play, Heavy, And it taking slightly longer for Crossworlds to boot up. The initial release of the crossgear was met with some criticism, mainly the price for something that is used to play one game that was in early beta. While mentioned, the clunkiness of the thing was not a huge talking point as it was the first of this tech developed for the household. Overall it had a positive reception and sold well enough for Instatainment to continue. The current view of the headset is it works but it's better to get a newer model due to the strain it can cause and some quality of life features it lacks. Some people do still choose to use it either because they already have it and Crossgears cost a lot or because they prefer the visual design. (Yeah, this is the type I'd have) It's generally the cheapest on secondhand selling sites, due to the major downsides and more appealing newer models, though the weight makes shipping costs a lot more so its not the first choice of most new players buying secondhand. It has stopped being manufactured so the price has a chance to go up. (Shizuka has a V1 set as the main one she uses. It technically belongs to her work but she took it when she left and wasn't asked for it back so.) Crossgear V2 A newer model of Crossgear. It has five different designs based on the in game classes (these do not limit your gameplay, they are purely visual). Some improvements from the V1 are; Takes up less space, Much smaller wire, Sits more comfortably on the face, Overall lighter, Easier to lie down in, Added window mode. Though the ‘expensive equipment for one game in beta’ criticism was still brought up, especially with the price increase, The V2 Crossgear ended up selling very well, doing much better than V1. As people did not know much about the new classes yet, a majority of people got spheromancer versions of the headset as it was similar to the design they were used to. Demand for this version went down heavily over time and players often either swapped them out for the model with the class they liked the most or just didn’t click with the game and stopped playing. This makes them the cheapest newer Crossgears on second hand selling sites, and are usually the type new players buying second hand get due to this. This has created a little cycle/fandom tradition, where a new player buys a secondhand spheromancer set, plays the game and gets invested finding out their favorite class, then buys a new Crossgear based on that class selling the used one back on a secondhand site, often to a new player. (Emilie got hers secondhand from Lukas who sold it to her for VERY cheap compared to elsewhere. Lukas researched the game before playing and already knew the class he'd play so Emilie gets a Triblader set. I think she'd be gifted a brand new pentafist set later on.) Crossgear V2 WL A wireless Crossgear V2. Has no wire in the back instead having a charging port, making it the best one for lying down and travel. Most expensive base model. (Apollo has a customisable spheromancer one of these. He got Joern one as a gift, also customisable. A quadroguard type since that was the class he expressed the most intrest in. He hasn't customised it.) (Shizuka has one of these for travel. I think they'd release V2s in black at some point later on) Crossgear V2 PC A V2 Crossgear with an external PC. Takes up more space and requires more cable management, but makes the headset noteably lighter. Is the cheapest new model. Crossgear V2 Custom VER Crossgear with swappable parts. Available with all new Crossgear models. All parts fit on all different headset types no matter the class. Accessories produced tend to be based on in game popularity, though some are added if the accesories are thought to be distinct. Makes any given model more expensive.
