If you watch #TheRepairShop (on now) you’ll catch a glimpse of my former #OnePlaceStudy of Dunster. A model of Culbone Church in Porlock from the model village in one of Dunster’s gardens is brought in for repair. Culbone church is said to be the smallest parish church in England #OnePlaceWednesday

Time races on relentlessly. It’s already a week since I was traversing Exmoor with my dearest chum, walking out to distant churches, along the old ways, finding those thin places in the landscape where the layers of memory feel closer.

Great news that a blue plaque has been unveiled on Exmoor honouring Ada Lovelace!

We are supporting a heritage woodland project to celebrate Ada and her influence on the landscape. Ada Lovelace and her husband developed one of the South West’s first arboretums in the woods towards Culbone.

Lynmouth, sent to Yorkshire:
Visited Culbone Church – only 35' long & seats 15. Pushed bikes all the way. It seemed miles and miles! We had a glorious ride across Exmoor with heather and gorse in profusion on the moors – beautiful!! Lynmouth has changed since we saw it in 1934.

Couple of details from the Church of St Beuno, Culbone, according to Wikipedia, the smallest parish #church in #England
Situated on the South West Coast Path west of Porlock #Somerset

Very simple circular stone font against the church wall Lantern hanging from the church roof decorated with ironwork leaves. Behind are the Ten Commandments on the wall, and a couple of bell ropes hanging loose.
