It's over now, and I think I've been very good at curbing my inner curmudgeon. I still find it bizarre though how all year long we tell children not to speak to strangers and certainly not to accept sweets from them, then once a year we send them out to knock on strangers' doors and ask for sweets.

Interest rate hikes are punishing middle-income people rather than curbing actual demand. Stagnant wages combined with AI career anxiety mean the economic fallout will be felt for years. It's the same miscalculation as COVID with rates kept too low for too long. #auspol
