Every targeted institution (my own very much included) should cut and paste this letter onto their letterhead.
A master class from MIT in responding to authoritarian overreach:

Your “premise … is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone.
… America’s leadership in science & innovation depends on independent thinking & open competition for excellence.

I use copy + paste instead of cut + paste because of commitment and trust trauma

I like U.S. Senate candidates who don’t cut and paste their policies from other candidates’ websites from other states.

This rundown of Jasmine Crockett’s original, Texas specific policies is exactly what doing your own homework actually looks like.

“…cut and paste your entire source code…”

Lol, this guy has never coded anything beyond hello world.

Love the idea that’s “what everyone at xAI does” — they’re all sitting there doing bong rips taking turns pasting the repo folder into a webchat window because that’s what the boss wants.

Pete Buttegeig made this point last night on CNN. The war plans (Goldberg said they were very detailed, so much he wouldn’t print them) are on a secure system. To get them onto Signal, Hegseth would have to do a cut and paste. Labor intensive! Maybe he retyped?
2. Why did Hegseth copy war planning information from the military computer systems onto a Signal chat?

3. Hegseth needs to explain why he thought all those people needed the war plans? On MSNBC Goldberg indicated the Sec of Treasury was in the chat…. Why?
