A Washington, D.C. resident received a text message falsely claiming that Apple Pay had processed an $8,250 charge with another identical transaction set to auto-approve within 35 minutes. The message directed the recipient to call an 855 toll-free number and reference case number CA-3321 to halt the alleged pending charge. The recipient correctly identified the message as fraudulent and forwarded it to CyberGuy rather than following the instructions.
