#CycleOps
If you already have a bike and want a cheap dumb trainer, go to craigslist and/or ebay marketplace and google "cycleops" - someone will probably give you one for free or certainly for under $100.

If it helps I’m a flat-pedal truther (the truth being that maybe 1% of road cyclists actually NEED clipless pedals or some other form of foot retention- a cheap flat like the cycleops squatch or raceface chester are more than “sticky” enough for most riders)

My recommendation, get some rollers for in the garage.
November 22, 2024 at 7:45 PM
yes, i will gladly put them to use as my
cycleops rollers are approaching their last rides

or use them to really smooth out tht pedal stroke

I went looking for the articles the late Les Earnest wrote about this on his Stanford ("Cycleops USA") pages. It seems Stanford may already have taken them down. 🙁

When you subscribe to a paid tier on IC Forums,

That money goes DIRECTLY to the IC Forums CycleOps canister.

That money is used to burn $ICP and keep the forums on the network. 🔥

Burn enough ICP? The supply starts to go down and holders benefit.

ooh reminds me you might be perfect person to ask

Do you remember old PowerCal PowerTap by CycleOps
from decade ago?

It was a $50 HRM that guesstimated cycling watts based on HR+speed+rpm sensors

But they stopped making it, no longer available

Has anyone else made a similar cheap watts solution?
PowerTap PowerCal In-Depth Review
The CycleOps PowerCal is a unique power meter of sorts. Aside from being inexpensive, it's also non-traditional in the way it gathers power..

I'm pretty good at riding my #gravel bike on the rollers and it's a heck of a workout but, I'm SO ready for not-winter...

What sort of trainer do you put your bike on? I had a Cycleops magnetically based one, then got a used Cycleops fluid based one, just to compare, from a local guy on Craigslist. ("Fluid drive!"). I just put on YouTube virtual cycling videos (w/ my own music), but I'm really not much of a cyclist.
