Finally caught the Cyriopagopus hainanus, out of her burrow having a snack. First time I have seen her in several years! 😍

Thailand. Target tarantula number five for this trip - The Thailand black (Cyriopagopus minax). Adult male on the left, adult female on the right.

Another moult from the Cyriopagopus doriae (Kalimantan Borneo Orange Fringe). I'm glad it threw this out of it's burrow. I was beginning to wonder if it had died. Adult pic from google to show what a beast it will hopefully become! 🥰

Thailand. A Cobalt blue tarantula (Cyriopagopus lividus) waiting for passing prey. Tarantulas are ambush predators, emerging after dark and rarely venturing far from the safety of their burrow.

Oski is mostly based on the Cyriopagopus, or Cobalt blue tarantula, but I had to look that up again 😅
The green bottle blue tarantula also looks really cool!

thank you!

Cyriopagopus lividus (=Haplopelma lividum). Otra de las arañas que tuve hace muchos años.
March 7, 2025 at 8:09 AM
So I googled Cyriopagopus hainanus, to find a picture of one that wasn't just angry feet poking from a burrow (all I see of mine) And I found this. It baffles me why anyone would intentionally handle one of these...

Lucky find!! This looks to be the Purple Earth Tiger, Cyriopagopus sp. Hati Hati
February 13, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Oh wow, looks a lot like a Cobalt Blue Tarantula (Cyriopagopus lividus). Cool to see another really pretty blue tarantula.

Now that's a spider that you definitely do NOT want to try handling. I have a couple of other Cyriopagopus species and they all have a medically significant bite. But if kept correctly they can be chill, as you hardly ever see anything but their feel poking out of their deep burrows 😍

'Lawan' is observed to be derived from Theraphosidae Family, specifically Cyriopagopus lividus.

Very true. I avoid WC animals now (why I no longer keep many centipedes) As for never seeing them, One of my favourite spiders is female Cyriopagopus hainanus. I never see her naturally out but will come at you fangs akimbo if you disturb the mouth of her burrow...

Thailand. Target tarantula number six for this trip - The Thai zebra (Cyriopagopus albostriatus). A smaller species but with stunning stripes and blue highlights.
March 15, 2025 at 7:01 AM
Go for it. Had a cobalt blue (Cyriopagopus lividus).

Also had a colony of Babycurus jacksoni as well.
