Thank you, Travis. #freethegalgo #diadelgalgo
I created an image for Dia Del Galgo (Feb 1), showing an angel comforting an abused, three-legged Galgo crossing the Rainbow Bridge. It honors all Spanish hunting dogs who never felt love. At hunting season’s end, many are abandoned or die. Help raise awareness.

My final post for Día del Galgo. Honestly, this is a terrible day for us in the galgo/podenco world and it's overwhelming. I'm horrifically sad. (Reel courtesy of Quirbach Dogs.) #freethegalgo #galgo #diadelgalgo #sighthounds #noalacaza

A candle flickers for Blue's extended family today. 🕯️
#WorldGalgoDay marks the end of Spain's hunting season, and the beginning of the mass abandonment & killing of unwanted hunting dogs.
Please, light a candle tonight for the gentle long dogs of Spain 💙 #diadelgalgo #freethegalgo

As we move into the Day of the Galgo, please remember the horror these beautiful dogs endure in Spain. Goodnight, Bluesky! #freethegalgo #diadelgalgo #galgo #sighthounds

Spanish hunting dogs, the galgo and the many kinds of podenco, were purposely excluded from the laws Spain passed a couple of years ago guaranteeing animal welfare. They are considered livestock. #freethegalgo #diadelgalgo #worldgalgoday #galgo #galgos #sighthounds

Today is Día del Galgo. They are voiceless. They are powerless. We must speak for them. We must be their stewards. Never forget them!

It’s World Galgo Day and I want to share a little about how I got my beloved pointy dog.
February 1st marks the end of hunting season in Spain. This tends to coincide with large numbers of galgos being surrendered or abandoned. 1/

Now begins the time for Spanish hunting dogs to endure a season of torture. The "unsuccessful" dogs are hung from trees, dropped into wells, tortured to death, abandoned on the streets, drowned, and worse. Spain's animal protection laws exclude the galgo! #freethegalgo #diadelgalgo #worldgalgoday

This is Tzatziki and Bacalao (photos: Jeray Lopez Portillo). They want you to know that today is International Day of the Galgo. It's a day to remember that 100,000 galgos are lost yearly to the cruelty of the Spanish government, which has no laws protecting them. #freethegalgo #galgos #diadelgalgo
