First omakase experience went pretty well I’m surprised it was just filling enough for me but I don’t eat much anyways
Chawanmushi was a choice tho, and the dashimaki was savoury (which I liked)

Finally ate at Janken (Herne Bay) which AFAIK is the only place in Auckland serving Japanese breakfast.
Dashimaki tamago (omelette) & Grilled salmon wing teriyaki (special), both as Asa Gohan Set. Highly recommend.

Finally ate at Janken (Herne Bay) which AFAIK is the only place in Auckland serving Japanese breakfast.
Dashimaki tamago (omelette) & Grilled salmon wing teriyaki (special), both as Asa Gohan Set. Highly recommend.

Tried making a DASHIMAKI TAMAGO omelette for breakfast and it was SUPER DIFFICULT tbh (and the last layer came out kinda raggedy because I misjudged how much egg I had left by then)! But taste and texture wise it came out pretty good and went nicely with some rice + furikake and grated daikon!🐗💪🔥🍳

this was at isoism kyoto, a restaurant specialising in pickled/fermented foods! 😌 definitely get the grilled tamba chicken, i also like their fermented ginger ale...!
