Why is the DC311 app such trash?
March 17, 2026 at 12:28 PM
Put in a DC311 request for a broken sidewalk that’s a trip hazard, and LOL at expected resolution date…
September 22, 2026 at 11:14 PM
Decided to test how much faster Snap311 is than the DC311 app. 21 seconds vs 72 seconds for a single request from app open. Thinking about how much time people waste because DC Gov isn’t interested in improving the user experience. Over 100 requests, this is >1 hr wasted

Bonus tip to DC drivers - rain means "be extra careful of bikes" not "assume no bikes"

Shoutout to @dashcam.bike for the extremely satisfying sticker option

Can't wait til DC311 is #onhere so I can simultaneously dunk & request ticketing

@cmcharlesallen.bsky.social is time for DC311 and other DC govt orgs to move to bluesky?
X is not sustainable anymore.

Hey @DC311 and @DCDPW. My track collection on 1400 block of Ingraham Street NW was skipped AGAIN. AGAIN.

What a broken DC311 means for my neighborhood is things like illegally dumped trash and overflowing litter cans that I would usually report but wasn't able to, and so they just linger. Fantastic agency management work as ever, @mayorbowser.dc.gov.

Can't tag DC311 #onhere - how do we get this fixed??

West Virginia Ave NE southbound between Mt. Olivet and Florida

Got tired of wondering - bonus shoutout to the very patient 6yo who chilled out in the bike singing Hamilton while I kept stopping to futz around with measuring tape!

@DC311 your location function doesn’t work on the app

Hi @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social and DC311, this trash truck ran a red light at 4th/M *as I was crossing*, then yelled "fuck you" twice at me as I pointed up at the red light signal that was VERY MUCH active. They even slowed down to yell at me - how kind!

DC Department of Transportation installed bike stands ahead of schedule. Thanks!

It’s a Sidewalk Palooza weekend!👟✨

Across DC, neighbors are walking, rolling, and auditing our sidewalks, identifying tripping hazards and pedestrian infrastructure issues, submitting 311s, and building more accessible public spaces.

DC311 app has been glitchy for me for a while, but now is completely broken as is the web interface. As a regular 311 user, there have to be 5+ requests I just gave up on submitting over the past couple of months. (I did persevere on scheduling yard waste pickup through the auto phone tree.)
DC's 311 app has been broken since May 1, which isn't acceptable for something residents rely on to report sidewalk issues, missed trash pickups, and broken streetlights. I got curious whether the outage actually showed up in the submission numbers. So I pulled the open data. 🧵

Big thanks to @ddotdc.bsky.social and their bike team who are some of the fastest at completing 311 requests. They have moved a lot of curb stops that are knocked into the lane as proof paint is not protection! #BikeDC

Please DDOT and DC311 get on here so I can rage skeet about how it’s been 6 years of me complaining and I still regularly almost get hit by cars who refuse to stop at the Texas Ave and C St crosswalk THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT IF A SCHOOL!

DDOT hasn’t done a damn thing.

DC 311 complaints about police parking illegally and driving recklessly typically disappear into a black hole. But apparently when you send a long email to the 3D Commander, @brianneknadeau.bsky.social, and ANC friends, someone actually takes a look at the backlog:

Anyone else having issues using the DC311 app? Trying to do the right thing and report a problem but the app ain’t working! Le sigh…

DC311 just forced me to log back on to Xitter to make a report because both the app and the browser submission were glitching and not letting me submit. DC's tech for basic public services remains notoriously bad and needs to be fixed. (Hopefully in a @janeese4dc.bsky.social administration?...)

DC311 and attendant services like DPW have really fallen apart. Getting a garbage mountain cleaned up (illegal dumping that the city never bothers to prevent, or investigating they need to stop asking about violators) takes weeks.
