Annie Andrews who won in SC against Graham did not share internal polls they were up. She shrewdly didn't get the GOP's defences up as a result. I think there is some good political talent in this crop of candidates.

A quick visit to the beach at Brancaster this morning. On the granite sea defences were Rusavskia elegans, Flavoplaca marina and Flavoplaca maritima. And what could be Variospora thallincola although not 100% sure I can rule out Calogaya pusilla.

I'm being told that we can't discuss Ali lying about AES over performing because AES was subject to a lot of disgusting bigotry & I look forward to reading those folks defences of Hillary Clinton & Kamala Harris for the even greater amounts of bigotry they were subjected to in their campaigns.

I'll admit I don't follow trials on a regular basis but the defences defence seemed really desperate

The speed with which rallying around the flag replaced the progressive values of so many Canadians has been educational — and so unnecessarily. Indeed, our progressive values have been one of our greatest defences against Americanization. Abandoning them now is self-destructive.

55 people now confirmed dead from the Russian air strike on a humanitarian centre in Ukraine earlier this week

Russia's war on civilians is escalating at an alarming rate and Ukraine's current air defences are insufficient to stop it

When will we do something?

For now, Europe agrees it needs strong defences to deter Russia. But the nationalist right may do well in elections in Spain, France, Poland and Italy. Some are pro-Russian, all oppose European integration. My column on a crisis for European rearmament

Fear united Europe. Nationalism may tear it apart
Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin made Europe serious about its own defences. That may not last

“Russia is losing civilians also,” - primarily when their air defences miss a target and blow up one of their own dwellings.
Or when one of their bombers accidentally drops a bomb prematurely on one of their own towns!

... "Why didn't the allies just bomb the German defences from the air before the Normandy landings?"

And the thing is, they did. And they plastered them from naval guns too. But you didn't see any of that happening in the first couple of minutes of Saving Private Ryan so I guess it didn't happen.
