I was on a WebeX session during 2020 organised by the International Road Union for trade bodies to receive a presentation by Frontex and DGMove on EES & ETIAS and I think I remember a line “data protection is one of the issues that needs to be addressed” or something similar

Strangely when the IRU put on an information session for UK trade groups in order for Frontex & DGMove to explain how EES and ETIAS would work in relation to Commercial drivers the only trade body who couldn’t be arsed to attend were RHA

They have a reputation for making lots of noise but doing

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a generic confirmation question that you meet the requirements of using the waiver

I attended an online presentation by DGMove/Frontex on the way EES would work in middle of 2020 and I don’t recall any questions being involved

You may not be the person to answer this, but maybe you know someone who can, but on the issue of visas for HGV & PSV drivers, I spent a lot of time 2019/20 trying to get a definitive answer from different embassies in London and finally from DGMove and the answer I finally got was that because..

The idea that a treaty that took years to draft, argue over, agree to and then ratify is just something written on a pos-it note that can be altered with careful use of tippex is ludicrous

DGMove started a consultation into changes to 561/2006 (drivers’ hours) in 2018 and the very minor amendments
