Presumably not just those but any aircraft that used a Merlin engine then (DH98 Mosquitos, P51D Mustangs, etc.)?

I forget the full list but it's quite extensive. It was a very widely used engine.

Tuvieron que arrojarse al agua, la marea estaba subiendo y debían hacerlo todo rápido. Una vez en tierra lo primero fue despojarse de la ropa mojada y allí quedaron Edward y Emma envueltos por unas mantas que recuperaron del montón de provisiones que se almacenaban. Así pasaron
aquella noche, contando cada uno qué les había llevado hasta allí. Edward había salido en una misión de caza de submarinos. Se había recibido la alerta de un submarino que navegaba lentamente tras haber sido alcanzado por los disparos de otro avión, así que prepararon tres DH98 y salieron por tres rutas diferentes en busca del U-Boat. El mar del Norte estaba gris, reflejo del cielo nuboso y Alvin, el navegante-bombardero consiguió dar con la rastro del submarino averiado. El buque navegaba lentamente en superficie, dejando un reguero de gasoil en la superficie. Edward hizo picar el aparato mientras Alvin preparaba el visor de bombardeo. Durante la aproximación, la tripulación del U-Boat aprestó el cañón de 20mm y comenzó a disparar. Edward disparó las cuatro ametralladoras, pero un proyectil alemán dio al motor de estribor y unas esquirlas de metralla se incrustaron en la cabina, hiriendo a Alvin, que finalmente consiguió lanzar las cuatro bombas sobre el buque alemán. Solo una de ellas hizo impacto. Fue suficiente para enviar a pique al submarino. Con un motor averiado, perdiendo aceite, sabía que no conseguiría volver a Escocia. Saltar en paracaídas era absurdo, Alvin no lo conseguiría y las aguas estaban heladas. Se le ocurrió intentar amerizar, aunque sabía que las posibilidades eran escasas. Bajó la velocidad poco a poco, evitando entrar en pérdida y buscó una lengua de agua que se adentrara en la tierra con el agua más tranquila. Dio varios botes y el aparato se giró violentamente, pero logró amarar. Alvin hacía rato que no hablaba. Salió de la cabina y vio aquel pequeño pesquero que se dirigía hacia ellos. Intentó nuevamente sacar a Alvin, pero ya no tenía pulso, así que solo quedaba salir de allí y hacer desaparecer el avión. Tenía sus dudas respecto al pesquero, pero la voz de Astrid lo tranquilizó. Y así se conocieron los abuelos Edward y Emma, en una cueva. No sé si las hermanas habrán recuperado los diarios de la abuela Emma; podrían ser interesantes.

The CAAhe Legal Department have guidelines which you must satisfy to claim an identity. You must have the WHOLE of the 'mortal remains' (100% of the brick). Some aircraft do NOT have a definitive, singular, data plate (the DH98 has multiple data plates, for example)
