Definitely time for a BiFET lambda diode powered oscillator. Just a lambda diode and an LC resonator, really nice sine wave, too.
A small circuit using a PNP transistor and an n channel JFET, two biasing resistors for the BJT, a 100μH inductor, 15pF capacitor and a decoupling capacitor a nice sine wave on an old oscilloscope

That the entire mirror is translucent is verified in the manual. So then, the R8 is a pellicle mirror? But like, a successful one? And in turn, with a pellicle mirror system how the actual heck did they get the viewfinder as bright as it is?
the camera has two different photo diodes: one round diode on the reflector behind the partially translucent swinging mirror with a precisely bordered metering field and one diode with 5 metering fields in the bottom of the camera, protected from stray light. Swinging mirror: 70% reflection, 30% transmission.

Without that reverse diode in there the stored charges have nowhere to go and may damage electronics. The datasheet for these 7805s clearly shows the need for the power to go somewhere - specifically out the opposite power input rail.

Oh and look at the new fuse there too! :3
