I am a USAF veteran. I was a Russian crypto-linguist trained at the DLIFLC, so my core skills may not come into play, but... then again... given who Trump's buddies are, they just might.

This sparked a memory. 😊 It’s 1988 at the DLIFLC in Monterey, CA. I’m studying to be a Russian interpreter. For a cultural festival on campus, I learn to make vareniki (Russian pierogis) with one of my instructors. Pretty sure I ate as many as I served. 😅

Anyone else have or remember these? 😊 Don't know how long these were available, but mine were had circa 1988, DLIFLC, Monterey, CA - Over the hill, Nicholson Hall. Took my last final and then the big '89 Prieta Loma quake hit directly after.

A convoy of Ukrainian contractors had been hit & brought in, so it was up to me & my trusty dictionary to translate the complex medical situation of the patient to their convoy commander.

Some random photos from back in the day. This is the view from my room in the old USAF barracks, looking across to the Marine / Nave barracks.

I met Marine Corps men at the DLIFLC in Monterey CA,& they told me that they respect women soldiers in the Army because they in fact train the same length of time as men do. Marines respect women soldiers because they've put in the time, the same training that male trainees do. And that's a fact! 🤷‍♀️

No visiting family members. No diplomats or ambassadors or heads of state. No foreign military students (like at DLIFLC). No influencers. No importers. No one looking for work that might keep the construction, trucking, and landscaping industries afloat.
