like i kno the other games r miles better but the first game being so difficult 4 me cuz of the clunky controls put me off on the motivation level. but i kno thats a dmc1 exclusive issue. but i cant get past it

while I see now why people love dmc3 so much, there's just something about how dmc1 looks and feels that just makes me like it more than 3 for whatever reason

It's not like DMC3 vs DMC1 where it's a different game built of reverence of the original so the changes are easy to note.
Stuff like DMC1 having a holistic approach to gameplay and story while 3 has very harsh segmentation there.

Beat CVBC (76% completion). The game is OK. Spike pit challenges sure get old fast. The soundtrack bores me to tears. NB: not every game is CV1, SotN, DMC1, Demon's Souls, or Hollow Knight. Not every studio is Vanillaware or Grasshopper or From. Belmont's Curse is fine.

Hmm... I could write a very detailed review of Bayonetta 3 but the way that game is designed is so intrinsically tied to Bayonetta 1 that it would be impossible to do by itself.
Half the write up would be just Bayonetta 1 stuff, and to do that I'd have to cite DMC1 and VJoe too.

Hmm... I could write a very detailed review of Bayonetta 3 but the way that game is designed is so intrinsically tied to Bayonetta 1 that it would be impossible to do by itself.

ive gotta ask, as an action game fetishist, how much would i actually get out of this? ive enjoyed Remedy's stuff because it tends to occupy a gameplay niche but this one seems like it just isnt as good as DMC1, a 25 year old game. am i crazy for this impression i got from combo videos?

Genma Onimusha is the version really worth playing. Still not anything too special to me, especially when compared to DMC1 which released around the same time, but it's a competent action game. PS2 vanilla is far too forgiving and brief.

If my dmc1 replay has taught me anything it's that instant weapon switching is a treat I've taken for granted for too long because switching between alastor and ifrit either leaves you vulnerable or requires going into a menu and nonono don't like

So, I completed the #DevilMayCry HD trilogy. Verdict:
DMC3? Top-tier, cream of the crop, easily the best of the 1st 3 games. By far the best in the hack 'n' slash genre. 9.5/10.
DMC1? A solid first entry. Has issues here and there but it's expected. 7/10.

So, I completed the #DevilMayCry HD trilogy. Verdict:

It's fairly different from something like DMC5, where what's canon is just implied through references in the game and its novel, with retcons done as needed (Gilver being an Angelo prototype instead of the real Vergil in the DMC1 novel for example) to tidy up exact continuity.
