The DMCA as written is actually a reasonable compromise between the rights of copyright holders, big Internet platforms, and creators. Not a perfect compromise, but a livable one.
The DMCA as overapplied by big tech essentially says "a spammer can destroy your career, fuck you small creator".

It's likely so folks don't go through DMCA. It feels like the most accessible path. It's a cash grab. And they don't want us to DMCA bc it kills the train early.

This is a common pattern with a lot of their takedowns. AM2R got a DMCA around the time of Samus Returns, and Heaven Studio (a custom rhythm heaven level creator) got a DMCA right before Rhythm Heaven Groove was announced
