DNGN CLUB '25: a year in review.

Today, I'm highlighting my surprise darling, DNGN + DRGN. It essentially started as a demo of what I ended up calling the DNGN ENGN (I'm aware of how annoying I am) and as a bit of a joke. Its become one of my most downloaded games, and I absolutely love it. 🧵

I felt so inspired after using @thebreadwyrm.bsky.social art yesterday, I decided to create a new supplement for #DNGN+DRGN . "WANDERING MONSTERS" will add rules for extended campaign play, social scenarios, and a travel subsystem - as well as 8 new creatures to use as adversaries, NPC, and factions

In DNGN+DRGN, when a random encounter is triggered, you roll 2d6 to determine whether you encounter an Obstacle, Monster, or NPC.

For the supplemental monster menagerie SOMETHING APPROACHES, I've included options for each encounter type to add even more gameplay variety.

I got to try DNGN+DRGN last week in a play test run by Jack himself

It's a cool system that uses increasing die sizes as stats and the only 2 stats are DNGN ( dealing with the dungeon) and DRGN (for dealing with creatures)

It feels a bit like Cairn smash-cut with DCC's dice ladder! #osr

hes a look under the hood for DNGN+DRGN using my original DNGN ENGN game system.
Taking action in DNGN +DRGN 1. Whenever you attempt a risky action, grab a d20 & choose DNGN or DRGN SKILL DICE. 2. Then use any applicable [+] from your features & gear to increase your SKILL DICE size. Each [+] increases your current dice size one step. 3. The DM [DNGN MGMT] builds their DNGR [danger] Dice & both you and the DM roll your dice and compare results: SUCCESS If your roll is higher, you succeed and may narrate the success of your action. FAILURE If you roll lower, your attempted action fails and the DM may narrate the results. If you fail a roll in combat, reduce your current DICE SIZE for taht skill by one dice step. PUSH YOUR ROLL You may choose to push your failed roll by reducing teh corresponding SKILL DICE one step to barely succeeed (e.g., a d6 DNGN DICE becomes a d4)
