The DNJ US Attorney's Office has a proud history. There are skilled, professional, committed AUSAs I admire there today.
Watching acting DNJ US Attorney Alina Habba, a wildly unqualified Trump loyalist, debase that proud office with actions like its charging Representative McIver is excruciating.

I was an AUSA in DNJ (2001 - 04). Judge Quraishi is also an alum of the USAO-DNJ.

As a former AUSA in DNJ, it is clear to me that Acting U.S. Attorney Habba does not adhere to the Justice Manual.

2/2 Before he was the USAO for DNJ, Bob Cleary was the lead prosecutor on the Unabomber case. While he was USAO for DNJ, he hired me to serve as an AUSA. He is the standard to which I aspired while I served in government.

Re: the lifeline earlier, this was the text order that set this hearing. He offered to let them seek an adjournment so that they could answer questions about how the DNJ office could proceed. Rosenbloom filed a letter saying he would be prepared. That's why he won't let Coyne talk.

Todd Blanche (a professional acquaintance) is very well-credentialed and had great trial experience as an AUSA in the SDNY.
As a former AUSA myself (DNJ), one thing you don't get much experience on as a prosecutor is trial cross-examination. Few defendants put on witnesses.
It showed today.

Todd Blanche (a professional acquaintance) is very well-credentialed and had great trial experience as an AUSA in the SDNY.
As a former AUSA myself (DNJ), one thing you don't get much experience on as a prosecutor is trial cross-examination. Few defendants put on witnesses.
