Square Enix hasn't announced a game since the June 18th 2024 Nintendo Direct.
If they don't have a major presence during the Switch 2 Direct, I'll actually be quite shocked.

In a surprisingly candid statement, the DQXII team admits that the game development was not going well, so they rebooted it the game completely a while ago and it is going to take a while to come out still.

I visited Dragon Quest Dive, the 40th anniversary exhibit in Harajuku! The VR ride was very cool and there’s dev documents from the original game (that you can’t take pictures of). Hopefully DQXII comes out before the 50th anniversary.
