#DS-9
random mfs winning house seats in North Carolina

9 Ds so far lmao

are you absolutely joking? the gerrymander SHATTERED

On this note, Ds put up huge turnout advantage in Texas yesterday. We saw it develop over early voting and continue into EDay, but rurals and red exurbs lagged well behind the rest of the state

I'd guess turnout alone contributed a ~6-9% swing

No seriously. Voters who thought the economy was the most important issue went for Ds by 6 points--a good margin.

But Ds won the House popular vote by 14. The second most important issue was democracy, and Ds romped among those voters--79-20.

And now a Crains journo.

The MI-7 race is between incumbent R Tom Barrett and D William Lawrence.

having El-Sayed win by 9 would be pretty fucking satisfying after all of this.

But obviously this would all be amazing news for Ds. and NYT has not been very D leaning for most of this cycle.
Final NYT polls

It's either a biblical polling error or a biblical wave

In 1974, the Ds up 44 House seats and 4 Senate seats. In 1994, the Rs picked up 54 + 9. In 2010, the Rs picked up 63 + 6. In 2018, the Ds picked up 41 House seats but lost 2 in the Senate.

the way that will shake out is the committee is made up of e.g. 10 good Ds, 1 bad D, and 8 Rs

and so the bad D loses

but not if you make the rest of the committee 9-9 (or worse, 8-10) by electing too few Ds, total!

It's hard to extract the votes of enlisted from the votes of their families and the larger community but both Bragg and Camp Lejuene look to have gone for Ds. The former helped to swing D-9 (helped that Ojeda was military) and the latter putting D-3 within a few hundred votes.

Tennessee's gerrymandered districts mostly served their purpose. Pooling all house races, 45% of voters chose a D while 55% chose a R. Yet Ds only won 1 of 9 seats (11%), just barely. If that's the best the state can do in this climate, something is unfair. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Arrgh! so this means 291-108 in the House for Ds and 15-9 in the Senate. Typing too fast/drunk with giddyness.

It’s hard to imagine national Ds paying much attention to FL for the foreseeable future, not when TX/OH and even SC/MS have shown they’re more winnable. So FL Ds have to figure this out themselves. And they’re probably not inclined to seek candidates who trash them! 9

My basic read so far:
-The electorate is probably like D+3 or D+4
-Suppose that independents largely swing against Republicans
-Slightly more R defections vs. Ds

=

Yeah that's like a D+9 national environment probably

Just gonna go ahead & dedicate today’s VA vote to L Louise Lucas, Queen of VA Ds. Here’s hoping for a 9-2 result even w/out a gerrymander & 10-1 in ‘28 after they pass it again.

Definitely recommend 7 Reimagined, and if you can access it, 9 on DS (cough or elsewhere cough) is absolutely FANTASTIC (fun fact: 9’s wireless data sharing was the inspiration for StreetPass!)

8 is great but can be a bit slow to start, if you get into the series definitely come back to it!

If ya have a DS emulator then ya can give dragon quest 9 a try. A classic title and also my first dragon quest. Hopefully level-5 doesn't get its hands on making the remake, given the controversy about them using AI now.
November 4, 2026 at 3:11 PM
Sort of. If the *overall* turnout is 9+ (ie, 9% more of voters are registered Rs than Ds) or less, Dems have a good shot.
November 3, 2026 at 8:00 PM
If that's from DS-9 (which I would swear it is) then that's the banter between two characters who were ***obviously*** supposed to blossom into full romance. Such wasted potential!

Happy for him but the 9 texts I've gotten from him or saying they're from him TODAY asking for $ has me feeling much less elation than I normally would. This is actually, seriously, something I want the Ds to tackle - ending the constant flood of begging texts & emails.

🤞 NYT projections, *not official calls* yet (9:58 PM ET):
- The Ds have a greater than 95% chance to win the Senate.
- In Kansas, Adam Hamilton, the D, is likely to win. Leads w/around 40% of the expected vote in.
- Texas: James Talarico has a 90% chance to win.

But you're right, absolutely "TV Show Logic" to have a story lifting those characters from a starship for a secret mission. DS 9 was really only trek show I ever watched, altho one of my earliest memories was watching an episode of the original series when it first came out, prob '67 or '68.
