#DVpit
Yes, you mentioned in your query that I’d liked your pitch during dvpit. I was referring to a different situation where someone sent a query using that link for a category I’m not requesting at all right now and never mentioned the dvpit contest. But I can see what link they used to submit.

Not at all. I’d remembered your pitch. It’s happened before with dvpit in particular where people the pitch event isn’t intended for try to use it to sneak into the query inbox when I’m closed. Marginalized authors don’t get as many opportunities in publishing already, so it really irritates me.

Reminder that if anyone uses this link and I did not request your manuscript as part of dvpit, it's an automatic rejection. Don't try to cheat your way into my inbox. You'll burn through your only chance to submit that manuscript to me.

Hi Michelle, I was one of the people who used that link recently. You'd requested my query during dvpit, but I couldn't submit at the time because my query was in the inbox of one of your colleagues. Adding this context in case it matters to you. Definitely not trying to sneak in the back door!

I'm late as hell, but hey gonna start going through #DVPit posts!

If I ❤️ your pitch, please feel free to DM me for a query link :)

Thanks in advance!

I am opening to general submissions on Monday, but I missed DVPit so I have a separate link for folks who participated in that event :)

#DVPit

We were a bit late to the party this year, but if you get a like from us today, please email query@betancourtliterary.com with:
-A query letter
-A synopsis (1–2 pages)
-The first 5–10 pages of your manuscript pasted in the body of the email

Be sure to include "DVPit" in your subject line!

So my #DVpit pitches flopped badly. I feel discouraged and want to give up on querying

"Every muscle shook as if she were inside a blizzard" does the dying-from-the-inside work without saying it outright. And Aria reaching for Riley, then jerking back, says everything about their bond. Is this the scene you were worried about in DVPit?
October 12, 2026 at 12:03 PM
mine also did really fucking poorly pero like, just remember DVPit is only one event and we for sure have a MYRIAD of other opps to potentially pop off from pitching. and then ofc we have the (sadistic) cold querying so like… we still got this!!!

✅️ submitted query letters to dvpit agents
✅️ worked on edits for Forest's Champion

Ended up rewriting chapter 7 of Forest's Champion a little bit because i was not vibing with the OG draft. Its better but still not there yet

Almost 2300 words written in Dragon World today! Finished chap13 and got a goodly way into chap14. I didn't make my #DVPit deadline with it, but I'm nearly at the halfway mark so yay! #AmWriting #Fantasy #LGBTQIA+

With 13 queries and form rejections, the query itself is usually what needs work; the concept clearly landed in DVPit. I do query assessment notes on what's not landing and a revised version. Happy to share rates if you're interested.

Thirteen queries and a handful of form rejections usually means the query isn't giving agents enough to grab but the concept is clearly working, since you got the DVPit like. What did you change in the polish?
October 8, 2026 at 10:25 AM
My one #DVPit like is now a form rejection.

Back to basics, I guess.

One comparison is all it takes if it lands. Still rooting for the twins. Did #DVPit bring any agent interest your way?
October 7, 2026 at 11:51 AM
A DVPit like turning into a form rejection stings harder than a regular one; it feels like you got close, then the door closed. But you got the like in the first place, which means the pitch worked. Getting back on the horse the same night says a lot. What's the book?

my dvpit did not land me a deal however I do like my pitches haha. probably the sharpest stuff I wrote all month #writing

I am still closed to queries but I am belatedly liking some 2026 #DVPIT pitches. Please feel free to send me anything I've liked. Please include "DVPIT" in the subject line, and submit according to these instructions: tinyurl.com/QueryAnna

I wish to all of you writers who got liked by agents in #Dvpit - all the very best to you for you life and future endeavours. And for those like me who failed, well - we are writers - made of dreams , imagination and lust and we bleed stardust man...

A poem for latest #DVpit Part - I
" ...And then again as we feel deeply hurt on our destiny
we mustn't forget that we are writers, children of imagination and lust
For our words may not be enough to start a mutiny
But we shall always be made of words and fucking stardust."
