The DZOFilm Arles Zooms Preorders Open!
After finding success with the super fast Arles primes DZOFilm is back with a duet performance. Introducing the brand new 25-75mm & 65-180mm T2.6 Arles Zooms. First shown earlier this year, they are now available for pre-order. Built to slot in with the Arles ecosystem, they bring versatility and value for current and potential owner operators. The question is: will their lack of speed mean they will get left behind?

On the glass: the Catta Ace is on loan from DZOFilm. It goes back in November. No money moved either direction.

Three rules.

Locked off shots, no camera movement.
Composition over coverage.
18-35mm DZOFilm Catta Ace as primary, Helios 44-2 for close-ups.

The first one started as an accident. My travel tripod was too flimsy to trust.

Are These DZOFilm Arcana Primes the Best Value Anamorphic Lenses for Indie Filmmakers?
If you look back even just a few years, the concept of shooting anamorphic was pretty much only available to the highest-end filmmakers and video production crews. You’d have to have access to the very best, and often most expensive, cameras and gear to pull off shooting in this iconic format. And while it’s not necessarily cheap to do it now, it’s definitely more affordable than ever before. You still have to be crafty, though, and find the right deals. Which is why we thought it was cool that the team at B&H would put out such an interesting video that breaks down some of DZOFilm’s Arcana line of anamorphic prime lenses, specifically showing how indie filmmakers could shoot with them. Let’s check it out. * * * ### DZOFilm Arcana Anamorphic Lenses In this video from B&H Photo Video Pro Audio’s YouTube channel, our host, Sidney, tests the DZOFilm Arcana anamorphic prime lenses. We covered this new lens series from DZOFilm when it was announced back in March and have been impressed not just by what the lenses offer in terms of specs and quality, but with the brand’s focus on making them affordable for everyday, indie filmmakers looking to access this anamorphic format, perhaps for the first time. This video test does a good job of not just breaking down the same physical specs, but it really tests the creative potential of these lenses as well as tests the flare and bokeh to showcase their capabilities, as well as asking who these lenses are actually for. Here’s the full breakdown of what’s covered in the video with timestamps for quick hopping. * 0:00 Intro * 0:34 Test Footage * 1:40 Physical Specs * 2:23 Breaking Down the Test Video * 2:57 Creative Potential * 3:33 Flare Test * 4:30 Bokeh Test * 5:32 Who is This For? ### Price and Availability The video showcases three lenses from the DZOFilm Arcana lineup as it currently stands, listed below. * DZOFilm Arcana 32mm Anamorphic Prime Lens * DZOFilm Arcana 45mm Anamorphic Prime Lens * DZOFilm Arcana 75mm Anamorphic Prime Lens The lenses appear to be temporarily out of stock right now, but you can find more info on preordering them individually or as part of a three-lens kit, with full specs and purchase options featured below. * Full Frame | T2.1-T16 Aperture Range * 32, 45, and 75mm Anamorphic Primes * Neutral Flare, Dramatic Oval Bokeh * 1.5x Anamorphic Squeeze * 0.8 MOD Gears / 270° Focus Rotation * 80mm Front Outside Diameter * High-Resolution Center, Sharp Edges * Refined Titanium Finish * 77mm Filter Thread * Compact Form, Consistent Series Design ### DZOFilm Arcana Anamorphic Prime 3-Lens Kit The ARRI PL-mount **Arcana Anamorphic Prime 3-Lens Kit** from **DZOFilm** comprises 32, 45, and 75mm lenses with nearly identical lengths and weights.

Absolutely gutted. Just found out that the DZOFilm Linglung parfocal MFT lenses are basically discontinued now. Absolutely should've pulled the trigger when I had the money for it ~6 months ago.
Thing I'd definitely like to try if I had a few extra thousand dollars lying around:
