Today marks 10 years since I made the first finished drawing of "Daaws" the wereskunk, my first official skunk character. And guess what? The original #Daaws has returned, and is meeting up with the 2024 Daaws!

I can say that 2024 Daaws thinks that 2014 Daaws is a knockoff, based on his expression!
"DAAWS" (which stands for "Drunk-As-A-Were-Skunk") "TENYAWS" (which stands for "10-Years-A-Were-Skunk") A drawing featuring two different versions of the same character, that being "Daaws" the blue wereskunk; ToonThick's original skunk character. On the left is a 2024 drawing of the original Daaws from 2014. On the right is the present-day Daaws. The 2014 Daaws is waving his hand and saying hello to the 2024 Daaws, who has the impression that the original Daaws from 2014 is a knockoff version of himself, and is therefore not impressed!

Actually, this skunk has been around for almost as long as Daaws, but has now been revived with a whole new look compared to 9-10 years ago. Anton is my other main skunk character alongside Daaws!

10 years ago, I made a sketch of random skunk characters (right). One of these characters was a drunk wereskunk. That wereskunk would go on to become "Daaws" 8 days later!

Today, on the 10th anniversary of that first sketch, I've remade the said sketch of Daaws, and there's more of Daaws to come!

"10 Years of Daaws: Martin's early furry" A 1:1 image featuring a drawing of "Daaws" (which stands for "Drunk-As-A-Were-Skunk"); a blue wereskunk with purple and yellow-ish tones, and cream yellow eyes (a standard for all my skunk characters), and wearing two badges; with a blurred background being a photo I took on 23rd December 2023 at Emporium Melbourne. Although a shopping mall, the photo I used for the background was good enough to portray Daaws, one of my earliest anthro animal characters, at a furry convention; a furcon that appears to have been created by yours truly, and Daaws here is probably the con's first ever attendee!

The ripped shorts weren't the first pair of shorts Daaws wore. For a short time he wore navy blue shorts; the same kind worn today by Stacks the Cat. After I redesigned Daaws in 2018, the wereskunk started wearing yellow shorts, similar to today.

Daaws In Space (2017) This was a remake of the same pic from 2016, which can be seen in the reply to this post. The original unofficial Inktober predecessor to this coloured pic was made to mark 3 years since I did a sketch of random skunks which included a drunk wereskunk that would become Daaws! Reduced 2 Stick Figure Status (2018) Overgrown (2019) At the time my characters' heads were getting too big, so I began downsizing. My official Inktober entry for this prompt in 2019 perfectly explained the size problem I had! Goo (2020) with Wodienfor, Cartooner and @theendertoonist.

Here are my 2 main skunk characters;

Clunk (a former fursona who came out of retirement) and;

Daaws (my first official skunk character whose 9th anniversary is coming up).
Clunk The Skunk. Not only was this my fursona from late-2021 to just over a year ago, but was also my Twitter handle. After I retired the character, I changed my username on Twitter to ToonThick. Clunk itself was based on a number of different skunk designs; all using the same eye colour so it didn't clash with the two-tone fur colour. All of those designs however drew their inspiration from an episode of "Regular Show" where a wereskunk appears. Upon his return, Clunk's design was updated to what it is now, based on Brusuky's version of the character from March 2022. DAAWS, which stands for Drunk-As-A-Wereskunk, based on the idiom "Drunk As A Skunk". This character was born out of sketches I did of different skunks back in Oct 2014. Around a week later, Daaws was born! My original skunk character, Daaws existed in its original null design until 2016, when following a rendition of Daaws by BluebottleFlyer on DeviantArt, was given a pair of dark blue shorts, followed shortly by ripped blue pants. In 2018, these were replaced by a pair of yellow shorts/swim trunks. Throughout 2019/20, Daaws underwent a number of redesigns before being quietly retired. Certain design elements from Daaws ended up on a muskrat character named "Clyde" in 2021. Clyde lasted only 2 months before being erased. For my 20th anniversary as a cartoonist, Daaws (in his '18 design) returned for a group pic which featured characters of historical significance. For Skunktember, Daaws was officially rebooted to what you see here, using elements from the OG design and "Clyde".

Like Wormwolf the werewolf many years ago, Daaws here doesn't need to dress up for trick-or-treat, because he's a wereskunk! He therefore used his spraying, singing and just his looks to scare many, and now he has a giant jack-o-lantern full of candy to share with you!🍫
