This week’s challenge: let go of sharpness.

Take inspiration from Daidō Moriyama and make 5 photographs of the same scene using blur, movement, reflections or low light.

Phone or camera. No perfection needed.

Let it blur. See what remains.

“For me, photography is not a means by which to create beautiful art, but a unique way of encountering genuine reality.” – Daido Moriyama, Japanese street photographer #photography

[Important] Life insurers to increase domestic bond purchases! Growing expectations for support of Japanese government bonds - AIビジネスまとめ
Japanese life insurance companies have indicated plans to maintain or increase their purchases of domestic bonds for the second half of this fiscal year. This move is expected to provide crucial support as buyers for upcoming Japanese government bond auctions. Japan Post Insurance plans to increase yen-denominated bonds, while Daido Life Insurance has raised its targets for expanding holdings of domestic bonds, mainly corporate bonds. Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance intends to generally maintain its government bond holdings while shifting from low-yielding to higher-yielding securities. Data from the Japan Securities Dealers Association shows that life insurers have been net buyers of super-long Japanese government bonds for the past four months. Market strategists point out that this recovery in demand from insurance companies will serve as a solid foundation to support future bond auctions.

My guy, your defense does not look good at all. I had to read it multiple times, and it just comes off as what I describe as "Daido-ing" because it comes off as "It's not so bad"

How I Take Photographs is a really brilliant book about Moriyama, written by someone who interviewed him while shooting in different parts of Japan, matched with the photos they took. It's a great insight into a very interesting photographer. bookshop.thephotographersgallery.org.uk/products/upc...

#Filmtober My wife and I attended the Robert Capa exhibit at the Museum of the Liberation of Paris a couple weeks ago. Before that we attended the Daido Moriyama exhibit at the Henri Cartier Bresson Foundation Gallery. Both were excellent.

baudelaire would not be able comprehend daidō moriyama
"As the photographic industry was the refuge of all failed painters, too ill-equipped or too lazy to complete their studies, this universal infatuation bore not only the mark of a blindness, an imbecility, but had also the air of a vengeance." -Baudelaire

Daidō Moriyama just might be my new favourite photographer. The shots are so imperfect, so messy, so chaotic. And it just makes them so beautiful. He doesn't even look through the viewfinder.
