Preparing students to work on a project on the #DairyBush this fall (a natural woodlot on the #Guelph campus) and want introduce them (& you) to this sugar maple that is estimated to have germinated in 1785.

This 241 year old 🍁 (older than 🇨🇦 , than lithography, than …) is part of your campus.

Out in the #DairyBush for the 805th consecutive weekly #GigaPan , 🦊 trail cameras and temperature datalogger check on a glorious March morning in #Guelph.

Pretty clear from the temperature plot when it emerged from the melting snow!

The temperature is stable around plus or -1°C, when the date of water was under the snow and then spikes in a daily fashion as soon as the snow is gone.

Why they building to affect significant natural heritage areas like the #DairyBush and #BrownWoods?

Why aren't they using the former hotel sites that they already own?

These natural areas house research and experiental education that are linked to the core of the institutions mission.

UofG is building (needed) student housing, BUT appears to be pushing it into significant natural heritage areas #DairyBush, #BrownWoods that harbour many species
