Souvenir pennant in Japan, my collection.
"亀岡文殊" , Kameoka Monju, Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture.
Kameoka Monju is the common name for "Daishoji Temple," which was founded in the early 9th century.
Length 64cm （25.1in). This pennant was produced around the 1960s or 1970s. #vintage

1, Kameoka Monju pennant. It is a green cloth with an illustration printed on it and two orange strings attached to the left of the flag.

2, The illustration is of the main hall and the approach to the temple. Monju is a popular temple as a Buddha who bestows happiness and wisdom.

3, Enlargement of the illustration. It depicts the main hall with its distinctive roof and a stone-paved approach surrounded by a forest. It is vividly colored and gives a solemn impression.

4, The title is in Japanese. "Kameoka Monju" (golden) in kanji characters. The subtitle is "Three Monju of Japan" (white). On the right side of the flag, "Commemorating the Pilgrimage" (red).

I am delighted to share that my research has been included in a new book - my contribution focuses on the use of 3D CAD technologies to digitally restore elements of the Daishōji taireifuku, a circa 1887-1890 Japanese ceremonial court dress that originally belonged to the Meiji Empress.
