Ging mir übrigens auch mit Darkover so. Habe ich als Teen geliebt. Waren auch die ersten Fantasybücher mit queeren Figuren.
Mal kurz in einige reingelesen, bevor ich sie entsorgt habe. Himmel.
Oder auch Barbara Hamblys Darwath-Bücher. Ebenso schlecht gealtert, gerade die Frauenfiguren.

Tower series, without which we almost certainly would not have got Darkover. Whoever replaced him would probably still have been racist, though.

I get it! I do! The Darkover novels were important to me when I was 12! But I don't spend my time at 40-mumble inventing reasons why the glorification of the child sex abuser character is somehow not deeply disturbing in light of what I now know about MZB's husband and MZB herself!

I was on a panel not long after it came out with a very nice woman who worked on Darkover gushing about how MZB had mentored them and I was utterly paralyzed between “I gotta say something” and “breaking it to this woman in front of a hundred people would be an act of cruelty.”
