Ich war verdammt mutig heute. Dauin ist das Zentrum für muck diving. Schlammtauchen. Hier findet man seltene Critters. Seltsame, seltene Kreaturen.

Dann soll auch das Essen so aussehen. Here we go.

The Dauin Signature Dish.

My UW pic of the day is a baby clown frogfish (Antennarius maculatus) from Dauin, in The Philippines. The reefs and sandflats around Dauin, eastern Negros Island, are an incredible frogfish nursery. Tiny tiny froggies can be found most anywhere you look. So cute.

saw a hairy frogfish in Dauin within the last 3 weeks. They are deeply weird but also very cute!
I'm deep down the rabbit hole on FROGFISH, 60 species of anglerfish in family Antennariidae.

They are deeply, utterly WEIRD & MARVELOUS.

Most walk on modified fins.
Others use jet propulsion.
Some are capable of air-breathing.
Some are "hairy", others blend perfectly in sargassum.

My #Crustmas today is a sponge-dwelling species with eggs, From Dauin, The Philippines. If you look closely, you´ll see there are actually 2 of them in the frame. I am quite unsure of the ID, here. So any help would be much appreciated. 🙏

A hungry #nudibranch (Armina sp. ) feeding on it’s favourite meal, a sea pen (Pteroides sp.).
Sea pens are truly ancient creatures with a fossil record going back to the time of the earliest multicellular marine animals, more than 500 million years ago.

Good day, Skylings. I might not be able to post one pic a day these days. But today, I give you this Nembrotha kubaryana from Dauin, Philippines, busy chomping on its usual food: tunicates. Have a great weekend.

Here is a vid I took many years ago when I very first started taking a camera down with me.
I'm sure one of you can help me identify this. Looks like a cross between a leaf fish & a sea dragon?😜

Need help identifying these little guys. Location was Dauin Philippines. I think they are some sort of “cat fish”. Same ones found feeding on sandy bottoms.
