It's nonsense. Whole point of the Davos speech was that this isn't about any particular election cycle but that the world economy should not abide the risk that a couple of hundred thousand midwestern voters can derail it on a misinformed whim (as that one Euro parliamentarian put it awhile back)

What a terrible take this is. Yesterday's election is a positive sign but rejecting Trump is a not the same as the old U.S. is back. We have no clue what a post Trump Republican party is or what post Trump U.S. is. Neither may end up being friendly globalist free traders.

I continue to be astonished at the inability of nearly everyone to read the clearly articulated thesis of Carney’s Davos speech: that being a “middle power” does not absolve a country of taking its place in the world seriously and managing its own affairs.
