Le 4 juin, Dawa Sherpa, 57 ans, a été retrouvé vivant après six jours seul sur l'Everest, sans oxygène vers 7 500 mètres. Tombé dans une crevasse de la Cascade de Glace pendant deux jours et demi, il a survécu avec des chocolats et de la glace avant de s'en extraire après une avalanche. Découvert près de Crampon Point, il a été héliporté à Katmandou pour déshydratation, gelures et fracture.
