Just realized

Now that Danny Sith decreed permanent #DaylightTime, we're not falling back again - ever!

Doesn't that break a social contract? I agreed to give up an hour in March with the idea I'd get it back this fall.

Now that hour I lost last spring, I'm never getting back! WTH!

Thieves!

Should Saskatchewan have a lower overall death rate than Alberta, because they don't do DST there (and since the twice-yearly switchover is supposed to have so many ill-effects)? (I tried to look it up, but it was too much work, so I gave up.) #daylighttime #dst

Manitoba to Maintain Permanent Daylight Time, Ending Seasonal Clock Changes
Manitoba has officially adopted permanent daylight time, eliminating the need for residents to adjust their clocks twice a year for spring and fall. Premier Wab Kinew announced the decision in a news release on Thursday, stating that clocks will no longer revert to standard time on November 1. This move aligns Manitoba with several other provinces and territories, including British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, which have either adopted or are moving toward permanent time. The decision follows a public survey conducted by the province, which received nearly 72,000 responses. Of these, 92% of respondents supported ending seasonal time changes, with 58% preferring permanent daylight time and 34% opting for standard time. Premier Kinew emphasized that permanent daylight time benefits health, business, and families with young children, whose routines, particularly sleep cycles, are often disrupted by the biannual clock changes. The province's health analysis, referenced in the survey launch, concluded that eliminating time changes would improve population health. This decision marks a shift from the premier's earlier stance, as he initially stated in March that the government was too busy with more pressing matters to consider clock changes. However, after British Columbia announced its intention to remain on daylight time permanently, Kinew softened his position and initiated the survey. The announcement comes just six months after the premier's initial reluctance, highlighting the province's responsiveness to public opinion. The change is expected to reduce disruptions for residents, particularly those with young children, and aligns with broader trends across Canada toward permanent daylight time. The province's health department's analysis, which supported the move, cited benefits for mental and physical health, as well as economic advantages for businesses operating across time zones. With this decision, Manitoba joins a growing number of Canadian jurisdictions moving away from the traditional seasonal time changes, reflecting a national shift in how time is managed across the country.

Some thoughts about moving to permanent #daylighttime in #britishcolumbia

I agree with the comments about choosing #standardtime

Perhaps after a winter of morning darkness we'll move to permanent standard time instead!
