“I would kill for you.” He whispered in my ear as he dipped me low. Sweat beaded off our brows and our bodies moved in haunting unison, as though the ballroom had morphed into hundreds of limbs that all shared the same minds. I loved him. And he loved me, but those words were…wrong. Did I want a man who would fight for me? Defend me? Protect me from everything? Perhaps he ment it lovingly, perhaps it was true. And maybe I should take it as it was; as a result of our love… But there was something in his eyes. When he pulled me back up, our faces so close we could press our lips together and I would forget those words, but there was still something there. And as he pulled me close again, my chin resting in the crook of his neck, he whispered to me again… tenderly. Sweetly. His lovely voice so full of devotion and warmth, so much so that I could not possibly believe he didn't love me… but the words… “I would die for you…and take the whole world with me..”

“You’re a dragon.” Ophelia breathed in awe. It wasn’t often that she was surprised by things that shouldn’t exist anymore, but a dragon, standing right in front of her, was something she never thought she would ever see. The great creature dipped down its head and gazed at her, deep blue eyes set into almost black scales, studying her as if amused. …or hungry. It could be thinking about how to season her. But Ophelia chose to be optimistic. She had read that dragons rarely feasted on human, and they were usually quite gentle and intelligent. There was a good chance it probably wouldn’t eat her. Maybe. She cleared her throat. “Hello.” The dragon just stared. Which was significantly better than it eating her. Maybe it didn’t understand her language. Unfortunately Ophelia didnt speak dragon either. Instead of holding eye contact with the intense blue, she gazed around the cave, expecting to see gold and diamonds and other exotic artifacts, which is what most legends said dragons hoarded, but instead… “Books!” She laughed. The cave was filled with books and scrolls and maps. They seemed to be neatly organized in stacks, possibly by size, and maps and other unreadable pages were carefully attached to the smooth walls of the cave, though she wasn’t quite sure as to how they were attached. Did dragons use nail? Or glue? As she spun around, taking the wondrous library that was probably filled with so much historical material, a deep, warm chuckle filled the space. She whipped around to see the dragon laughing, a soft twinkle in its eyes as it watched her.

“You don't wish to be remembered, but the world will want a name. They need to remember someone. So who? Ophelia brushed her hands through his soft fur, tracing over the prominent ribs and scars. There were so many people who should be remembered, who should be written into the history of their world. "I know." She muttered. Coro gazed at her with those gentle eyes. Who? "Kira." Your mother? "Yes. She...without her, I would have been...dead. I never would have gotten here. I am everything I am because she gave her life to protect me. But no one will remember her. No one will think that she fought. She fought for so long, but no one will think of that. She'll be forgotten." Ophelia buried her face in Coro's cloud soft fur and he rested his head around her shoulders. She would be forgotten. "I want her name to be remembered, at the very least, that way she and I can be one in the same when our history is written." Coro nuzzled her back. Very well then. You, in history known as...Kira of Wind and Fire...will be remembered as the saviour of the Gods. Ophelia sniffled, breathing in the sweet smell of his fur, which reminded her too much of the fields in spring. "Thank you," she whispered into him. "All I ever wanted was for people to know that she fought." And they will.

Malicai sighed in lighthearted disbelief as Ophelia bounced around the market stalls like a child. Her long hair bobbed as she gushed excitedly at all the dresses and hair pins, and all the cute girly things that Malicai would never understand, her strange squealing causing passersby's to glare at the silly girl. Jection bloomed inside of him, not quite like the affection he held for his own daughter, but more...warmth. Ophelia had so much life inside of her, so much possibility, so much weight resting on her shoulders. To Malicai, she was no more than a young child, a child who should dance, and be loud. , and play. He wondered to himself as he followed behind her, if maybe she didn't have to be the princess or Queen when all this was over. Maybe she could just be his...daughter.

His hands trembled and sweat beaded down his cheeks. Or maybe they were tears. The soft, leather bound book had been gently oiled, and wrapped in silk paper inscribed with heavenly words of goodness and holiness. They had locked the tome away in an enchanted box, made of copper and the finest dark oak wood. More silk wrapped around the box, with more inscriptions, but these one were darker, warnings and containments. He himself had lovingly placed his creation the in dark cave, and sealed the box. He shivered. Not from cold, but from guilt. So much guilt. He would always regret abandoning his tome, this book that he poured his heart and soul and blood into. This book that they had made to save the world. The book did nothing wrong. It was the people. The cruel, vile creatures. He though he had felt guilt for erasing his brothers and sisters minds, but leaving his own memories of the book intact, but that guilt was slowly dissipating. Why were they locking Book away? It had done nothing wrong. It was the people. The wielders. It was those greedy monsters! Why? WHY! Why should you be locked away for their wrong doings? You are not the monster. People are. They are. Not you. You just tried to help. Help Are you calling me?! Book? It is not your fault! But ours! I will free you. I tore him from the ground. Ripped away those holy words.
