If this thread popping off taught me anything, it's that there is some confusion about what working from reference actually means. It's pretty simple- it means you're working from observation in real-time. Whether it′s from life models, a tree, a photo, a 3D scan, a deathcast, a Caravaggio painting.
Reminder- using reference for art is NOT cheating. Depending on what type of artist you are, you should absolutely be using it. All highly skilled pro artists I know use it.
Art isn't a party trick, we don't have to be in the business of impressing ppl with the process. Don't hold yourself back.

Somebody ask Adam Silvera if the Duolingo owl is behind Deathcast!
Does anyone else hate when the Duolingo owl calls you by your full name and tells you the exact day and time you’ll die

and also I think there's just enough to give you the idea that DeathCast is a self fulfilling prophecy or isn't ALWAYS right or whatever that you can just barely hope that MAYBE ACTUALLY-- but then nope, truth in advertising
