Black Americans are one of the most influential populations on Earth culturally, politically, and emotionally. Governments, advertisers, and political movements recognize Black American history, music, language, trauma, and identity, then use messages of solidarity and shared struggle to connect with Black audiences during global conflicts.Notice who these videos targeted: Black Americans specifically.Because many institutions already understand something others are still realizing: Black Americans don’t just influence culture — they influence global consciousness. Music, language, fashion, activism, and politics worldwide are shaped through Black American influence. This wasn’t one isolated video. It reflected a broader pattern of messaging, from Iran for example, aimed at Black Americans through civil rights symbolism, anti-colonial rhetoric, music, and shared oppression narratives. The goal was emotional alignment.Malcolm X references, slavery imagery, and anti-imperial language were used to resonate with Black American historical pain — though they even misattributed a quote from Desmond Tutu to Malcolm X.That matters because this wasn’t simply an apology video. It was solidarity-focused messaging designed to build emotional identification through cultural validation and historical memory. This also reveals something deeper about modern influence: attention follows perceived power. Groups consistently centered in global media and political messaging are usually seen as capable of shaping public opinion at scale. Black Americans occupy that position uniquely because their cultural and political influence extends far beyond U.S. borders.Even international movements often borrow Black American language, aesthetics, and protest frameworks to communicate legitimacy or urgency. That level of symbolic influence is rare.Bottom line: the world does not repeatedly study, imitate, market to, recruit, and emotionally appeal to powerless people. Black Americans are recognized because they help shape global conversations, trends, movements, and public opinion.View all 2,094 comments
