#Deglobalization
It’s not deglobalization, it’s de-Americanization.
Once again, we’re witnessing neither “deglobalization” nor the death of international cooperation/global governance. The rest of the world is watching Brexit On Steroids & saying, “No, we don’t actually want that, thanks.”

👇🎯 This isn’t “deglobalization” & it’s not the end of international cooperation. It’s Brexit on steroids.
China’s response is not the start of a global trade war since it only targets the USA. It is how you would expect a major player to respond. This is not the global economy breaking down, it is not the 1930s, it is not the formation of multiple imperial blocs, it is the US isolating itself.

Again, we’re not (yet) witnessing either “deglobalization” or the death of international cooperation/governance. We’re witnessing a unilateral own goal of idiotic & epic proportions. Brexit on steroids.

“.. The Fed has yet to realize that the DEGLOBALIZATION is forming a new inflation paradigm that could force secularly higher interest rates. Philly Fed Prices Received clearly show the change to secular inflation.”

I think Trump II more broadly and attacking Iran specifically *are* an epoch-shifting moment of some kind, but there are probably huge limitations on just how much things shift. Given the cataclysm of 2008 and 10 years of incremental deglobalization, why are world trade volumes at a record? 1/
i genuinely do not understand how this is all happening at once. the fascists' biding their time and rebuilding power for 80 years, the whole global neoliberal capitalist order wobbling, and now mortal blows to it being dealt in the gulf. i hate to ascribe intentionality to these guys but

MAGA dreams of "deglobalization," but if they get their way the more likely option is that "globalization" continues... but increasingly without the United States. 4/

B of A is calling it “The Boom Loop” — a 75% boom in nominal GDP over seven years “as policymakers counter deglobalization, populism, inequality, with max govt spending (up 60% since 2020 and set to rise 15% in proposed FY27 budget) ..

“.. only thing that breaks 2020s boom loop is bond collapse.”

Turns out I underestimated it.
