When you are caring for someone living with dementia, remember CARE: try not to Criticize, Argue, Reason, or over-Explain. These habits are hard to let go of because they are natural ways we communicate with other adults.

If your loved one’s behavior changes suddenly, look for what may be driving it. Pain, constipation or dehydration, medication changes or side effects, an overwhelming environment, and infection or illness can all contribute.
