So from my uniquely weird perspective after living in the UK through Brexit, being in India during Modi's demonetization, and living in Brazil when the real tanked during the Bolsonaro administration, I can confidentally say that Americans do not and can not understand how bad this is going to be.

If you’ve watched a video discussing self harm, trauma, etc, by any channel that has to worry about demonetization, you know how badly affected the language has become, with serious topics buried under cutesy, trivializing terminology to avoid content moderation bots. It’s gross.

he's right it's mainly women now but it's more due to the demonetization/feminization of musical labor, less about video games

I anticipate YouTube one day going further than mere demonetization and algorithm burial for content like mine, outright barring it or adding so many restrictions it’s not worth doing anymore. At that point, I’ll definitely host them elsewhere.
I just care that its handful of viewers can view it.

Covering the demonetization experiment in India as a journalist, we spent a day basically trying to get someone to break the equivalent of $50. It took all day and after a couple hours I actually started to feel like a unique form of dread. Like what if your money just suddenly didn't work anymore.
