The last Scapa ship raised by Metal Industries was "Derfflinger", which spent WW2 beached upside down alongside her old WW1 rival from the Battle of Jutland HMS Iron Duke, Scapa HQ ship. The salvage men aboard Derfflinger saved the Iron Duke after she was nearly sunk in an air raid early in the war

At Battle of Dogger Bank Tiger performed poorly, firing 355 main-gun shells but scoring only 2 hits on the German battlecruisers Seydlitz and Derfflinger.

Quite a few similarities to this later Anglo-German design, so the work wasn't entirely wasted.
