First campsite morning of #DestinationMidnightSun - it's 5 AM. More calm.

Day 10 of #DestinationMidnightSun: kayaking in Lofoten. That's it, that's the (top) post. Have some glimpses in the thread!

A moment of calm from the first night of our #DestinationMidnightSun road trip. (This isn't midnight sun yet. Where we are, it sets at 23:00 and rises at 3:04!)

This was a good call! Turns out an uninterrupted night's sleep with zero new bug bites is actually a good way of recharging before a three country drive. #DestinationMidnightSun
For #DestinationMidnightSun's second night we're having a comedy of "oh look a place to stay OH NO the mosquitoes already live here". After two attempts at setting camp (one involved talking on the phone!) we gave up on behalf of man in man vs nature, and are in a hotel. Mosquitoes could never!!

Loved this shot I took after composing my #DestinationMidnightSun thread, so I'm doing a #NayePhoto single post.

#DestinationMidnightSun - HOME Trip was 750km long but what's important right now is of course: kitties!!

Road trip holiday, #DestinationMidnightSun, starts TOMORROW! I am abuzz with excitement and anxiety. What if I forget to pack the one thing that'll make the difference between a great trip and a terrible one?? (There is no such thing; anxiety doesn't care.) But at least I don't need stoma stuff! \o/

Twelve days on the road and it feels like we've been on #DestinationMidnightSun holiday for a month. Whew! Today was another driving day south - we now have "night" (00:30-01:57) as we spend the night in a campsite by the very recognizable mountain Torghatten.

Today was one of those driving days where the natural beauty around here makes us pull over with a "Wow!" and every kilometer or so. Down from the snowy mountains of Lapphaugen where it felt like late April or so at home, to late May here in Svolvær, where we had a nice walk. #DestinationMidnightSun

We like listening to stories when we travel together, and for #DestinationMidnightSun I'm excited to get to introduce Skuld to Wolf 359! I listened to the whole podcast two years ago, and loved it. However I only remember the broadest of strokes of the story, so it's basically new to me too!

Today's #DestinationMidnightSun drive has, in fact, brought us north of the Arctic Circle! It only took 690km (8.5h just driving). Another gorgeous day. I listened to a cuckoo while wading in a lake, we saw a profusion of wildflowers, and learned you flash oncoming drivers when you spot reindeer.

Day 11 of #DestinationMidnightSun and we have turned south. It's 24 hours home the fast way, but we're taking a more scenic route, which will take up to 36 hours. Gotta make it back home before work on Monday! So today was all roads (one road is a ferry for a bit) and a campsite with a view.

#DestinationMidnightSun Day 8: the view en route to the bathroom at 2am, and a last, stunning hike in the sun. Once the wind picked up it was quite icy, but before that I was ridiculously warm. Then one final stop at the famous Bergsbotn view, before turning south and leaving the beautiful island.

#DestinationMidnightSun has reached its end! After 14 days we came back home to our cats yesterday, and have been recharging since. Here's a last collection of photos from the road, where we drove into the rain, and out again the other side into what felt like a completely different kind of summer.

Today we're driving all day, but yesterday (13 of #DestinationMidnightSun!) we did a hike up to a hole before hiking all day.

It was a really, REALLY big hole in the Torghatten mountain. With a great view! (The drive also had great views.) 📷🧵

#DestinationMidnightSun Day 7 in one word: Segla.

In more words: happy midsummer! We celebrated with a hike up to where we got a fabulous view of the iconic mountain Segla, "The Sail of Senja". Skuld scrambled the last 100m, I kept to my comfort zone. It was so cool to be up there!

There aren't enough get across how wonderfully peaceful and joyful it was to kayak around Sommarøy (literally)! It was so calm, the kayaks just sliding through the crystal water, sometimes gently rocked on the ocean swells. Coral sand beaches and looming cliffs and - freedom. #DestinationMidnightSun

Day 4 of #DestinationMidnightSun: Went from Skibotn to Sommarøy by way of Tromsø, with a stop at the Arctic Cathedral. There are kittiwakes nesting on the bridge next to our campsite, a couple of ptarmigans were sand bathing by the road, and the eiders have tiny chicks! Also: seashells and flowers.

Today's #DestinationMidnightSun went through three countries, and was also a journey from summer to spring (no leaves on the birches!) and back again. We're expecting rain, but it's so warm and sunny now we stopped way ahead of our original destination of Tromsø, and are camping by a fjord beach. 📷🧵

Day 6 of #DestinationMidnightSun we took a ferry from the island of Sommarøy to the island of Senja, and spent the whole day exploring by car - following hand painted signs to unexpectedly dazzling views, having the weather change completely when we doubled back, and seeing so many stunning sights!
