honestly detentionaire is one thing i wish i could experience with a fresh set of eyes because it's like, would it have resonated with me as much if i wasn't a teen when i found it and without the context of the mystery genre pulling me back into animation, and would i have made stuff like this?
that time i got back into detentionaire during the pandemic and made a chaz amv set to red vox

Its striking style, top-notch voice acting, and wildly inventive thriller premise are great enough, but the real draw is a cast of incredible characters wrapped up in some of the funniest shit I've seen in a long time.
Watch it, and be filled with agony over its cancellation too.

Today I learned Detentionaire took heavy inspiration from real-world conspiracy theories, and considering the clones subplot that shows up later on...there's a less than 0% someone in the writers room was drawing from the Paul is Dead Beatles conspiracy.

No student likes having to spend time in detention so you can only imagine how Lee Ping feels. The freshman at A Nigma High has been sentenced to a year in detention after being accused of pulling off the biggest prank in high-school history. The problem is that Lee is innocent. Now, in order to clear his name, Lee must escape from the highly fortified detention room every day, infiltrate a new social clique, and unravel another piece of the gigantic prank puzzle to try to figure out who actually pulled off the epic stunt.

Today would’ve been Paul Soles’ 96th birthday. Paul played the voice of Spider-Man in the 1960s animated series, Ambrose Spike in Redwall and Finnwich in Detentionaire. He also appeared in several live action movies and TV shows.

Finally finished watching the whole series of Detentionaire and I loved it! I just wish they had given it one more season to wrap everything up because it left on a doozy of a cliffhanger. :(

but anyways I am glad you enjoyed some of those shows growing up. Other than Detentionaire, I did really enjoy Ruby Gloom as well.

Australians have always been pretty chill about Canadian cartoons I found because they grew up with a lot of the same stuff as we did in Canada.
In fact, at a certain point they were getting new Detentionaire episodes before we were!

As someone from Australia who didn’t always have cable as a kid a lot of Canadian cartoons became big faves of mine (TD, Detentionaire, Ruby Gloom, 6Teen, etc) so I get annoyed when everyone just thinks their all like Johnny test or kid vs Kat
