This is actually the funniest idea of all time

NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art

When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents

My story...

Who made the art inside Control Resonant?
When the developers of Control Resonant needed to fill their video game version of New York City with art galleries, they tapped the talents of people they knew particularly well

this in turn is a major driver of developers’ reputation for corruption!

Lefties like IZ because they strongly dislike developers, yuppies, and neighborhood change.

I am completely fine with demanding that data center developers build renewable energy infrastructure to mitigate the impact of their electricity use.

every major AI lab should be required to use 100% renewable energy, build solar infrastructure, do rigorous environmental impact assessments, and operate at carbon neutral or better
Anthropic Flags Gas Supply as One of Its Biggest Near-Term Risks
The data center buildout could cause a massive increase in gas prices as companies scramble for limited supplies and infrastructure fails to meet demand.

You only tell developers not to be Japanese while making Visual Novels.

"We don't want to be gatekeepers telling developers which tools they should or shouldn't use," Valve's Tom Giardino said.
Valve admits Steam has an AI slop and cloning problem, but says 'we don't want to be gatekeepers telling developers which tools they should or shouldn't use'
Steam Next Fest is being flooded with thousands of low-effort games, while developers are becoming reluctant to share their work for fear of seeing it quickly cloned.

Steam's AI disclosures are akin to "forcing developers to list their voting history", says man who must hate seeing eggs virtue signal that they're free-range. https://bit.ly/4yHFEyK

that kitsune game was only on screen for a few seconds but you could feel the developers decisions in it

It's one thing that developers can clone a game but *so can users now*

i think AI generation with regards to indie games is mostly just going to amplify the situation the situation developers were already in

players will find new games from sources they trust... streamers & reviewers, word of mouth from friends, or developers they already like

Literally *multiple* LA city councilpersons have been caught shaking down developers using this exact leverage point

AI dudes aren't developers any more than a factory making fake goods is an actual fashion house

Here’s the part with one of the developers saying they *could* disclose, but won’t because it would endanger the financial viability of their game 🙃 bsky.app/profile/camr...
From myself. Then Chedd's response... Yeah, they are hiding it on purpose...

In North Carolina, “Developers and property owners across Winston-Salem will no longer be required to provide a minimum number of parking spaces.”

When the victims are independent artists, writers and developers it's "innovation" and "resourcefulness"

When the victim is a multinational conglomerate it then suddenly becomes "theft"

People think that IZ requirements force developers to take lower profit margins.

In reality, developers have to deliver competitive returns to investors so IZ means nothing gets built until market rate rents are high enough to cover development costs *and* the necessary cross subsidy for BMR units.

fuck, i love indie games so much

i would love to just go to a cafe with my laptop and set up and play indie games

and it's not weird cuz everyone else there is doing that too

and there are some developers developing their games there and sometimes they stand up and ask for playtesters. and, um
