I think Im very much like this with Devilhearted, very ambitious but needing to force myself to work within a framework for first major part’s chapters (which are themselves a bit ambitious) before trying to go for some bigger ideas that would likely be explored in a second major part.

I think I kinda did end up writing some Devilhearted lore for an important story aspect relating to the tower of Babylon that was always on my mind as a sort of.. venting through prose. I think i’ll talk about it a bit.

I’ve kinda been getting visions of the main Devilhearted villain in my head every time I see the news, and It got to a point that I frustratedly realized, even he had more integrity than the superiority complex he was based on, and it kinda made me mentally spiral. I needed to see this.

I honestly did need something to kick my mind back in the gear of thinking about devilhearted, plans right now are that I wanna draw up a little bit of prologue stuff to show a little bit of what Azura was up to before summoning Deilos, and then continue from where I left off with the comic.

Anyway, Moving onto Devilhearted, Deilos was made initially as a gaia avatar, and was initially just kind of a sidekick to Azura until I really started developing him, here's some early sketches and a third, cute doodle made after figuring out how I wanted to draw him that I forgot about till now.

I just really feel that even just the basic idea behind Devilhearted before it got fully fleshed out in my head was when I felt like the artist spirit was truly awakened beyond a surface-value interest, I started thinking about symbolism, about relating stories to reality, about arcs that mattered.

I think I started out wanting to tell stories, but up until I started thinking about Devilhearted I didn't really have a firm grasp on the kind of stories I wanted to tell, and most of my early ideas were kinda flat basic adventures with no emotional depth in mind until that point.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

that Deltarune Prophecy maker thing got me thinking about certain story details that I have kept about half of under lock and key for DevilHearted, I do feel like people who have kept up with my random slight plot spills can surmise most of what this little text bit means.

Decided to watch Kpop Demon Hunters, Its really good and although I wish it went a tad further with certain story themes surrounding the main character, I really liked what it did still, and I’m definitely putting it on the mental list of inspirations for Devilhearted now.

Another Devilhearted Angel, Gradivus Michaels, The Angel of War, based on Michael. Distrustful of demons, and filled with complicated emotion over what he's seen and done in his time as an angel, he sticks to the only guidance he's ever known, that he must protect the Heavens.

Probably should’ve done this sooner, I’ve been starting to make proper extremely rough written drafts of how I want each chapter after 1 of Devilhearted to go ahead of time, and might share them with friends for critique. 1-3 are basically complete but may need revising, currently on chapter 4.

I think I’m finally making good progress on page 3 of Devilhearted and should actually actually have it out later this week, was a bit of a mix of struggling with procrastination and figuring out how to make a primarily expositional page into a fun visual read.

also yeah, Angel of Darkness is one of the many songs I've been listening to that I feel like really fit the themes and story of Devilhearted.

been trying to push myself to working on Devilhearted from start to end of the first arc at least. I kinda wanna give a slight insight on when it takes place, since i'm going forward with it. I'm thinking the early 2010s, likely in the season of fall, in 2013.

Honestly I think the one thing that's made Devilhearted take so long to develop aside from figuring out real world locations is that I just really really don't want the first arc villains to be one-and-done monster of the week characters, I want most of them to have room to grow and change.

swapping back over to churning out some devilhearted designs, The self-proclaimed fallen angel Aker, she kinda randomly popped up in my head and I realized she could help fill a specific role in the hell roster to help with the story flow.

Honestly I’m kinda getting alot of inspiration for what I want to do for Deilos in Devilhearted, San Antonio is so leafy and green, very forest-like for a city. I still very much want the first major arc to highlight El Paso, the second just makes sense to be in San Antonio.
