Oxford now has new 'filters' issuing fines for drivers who enter parts of their city zones (aka a 15 minute city), with plans being discussed to possibly roll this out throughout the entire country. They told residents at first that this was going to be temporary (and people actually believed them, lol). Kind of like taxation in the US... The 'filters' (this is what they are calling their ai surveillance zones) operate with ANPR cameras detecting number plates and issuing fines to drivers who "break the rules". Breaking the rules means that you leave your area more than 100 times per year. Drivers have to apply for a permit that allows them to go through the filters for up to 100 days a year without being fined 🤡 Currently, the fine is the US equivalent of $93 after you exceed the "generous" 100 "free" days provided to you by the government.
