A band of clouds touched by the golden sunset is reflecting in a lake.
The colors of the photo are darker golden and grey on the left side, getting fairer in the middle, and in the right 1/3 of the picture you see the clouds are fading and a blue hour’s sky that’s reflecting in the lake. This creates a beautiful change of color taking place from the left to the right side, when the day turns into the night.

'Betzere,' from the 'Studio Beaufain' series of portraits of the models and muses who worked with me for 10 years in Charleston, South Carolina. This was shot in the sunroom of my Beaufain Street studio, up on the third floor, a wall of old Craftsman windows on three sides, with Colonial Lake just below. The light in the sunroom was incredible!

The image is of a woman seated cross-legged, her arms crossed, almost entwined around her knees.

This photograph was made with a little Canon A5 camera, one of the first digital cameras dating from 1995. I still have it, and plan to do a separate tier of photographs using it for "The Parkways Projects" on Patreon.

It's up on Bluesky now @parkwaysprojects — by all means check it out! The core of the series is about the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive Parkways, Great Smoky Mountains and Shenandoah National Parks. There's many different layers to it, from the beginnings of all four NPS parks, its people, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the young men who built many of the classic timber-frame construction buildings. There will be many other related subjects, histories, stories and original archival photographs from the Open Parks Network, a collaboration between the National Park Service and Clemson University Library's Archives.

A sunset cruise in Chicago harbour, and the captain said it was too nice out to return. He sailed out further into the Lake than usual, and we came back to a reflection of the city lights on one side of the ship, and the full moon rising on the other. #BlueSkyArtShow #Reflections #EastCoastKin

I reflected on an amazing experience I had a couple of years ago, a sunset cruise on the @tallshipwindy , when the captain decided it was too beautiful out to come back in. He sailed out further into Lake Michigan than he normally would, and we came back to a lovely reflection of the city lights on one side of the ship, and the full moon rising on the other side.

"A right and proper Jeroman, in Time." 🌙🦉

In the town of Jerome Arizona, the buildings are stacked atop each other in steep and precarious positions along the side of Mingus Mountain. What could possibly go wrong? I chose a place that was only three stories high, built from a Sears kit home plan, ordered and erected in 1924. I could place a marble on the back side in the living room. Within minutes it would roll up against the kitchen cabinets at the front of the house. 40 feet forward, and angled slightly down.

Jerome is a very different place in this world. Built out of time, out of mind.

His is a digital composite image, an altered state from the original photograph.The image is of this building, this home, three stories, two households. The look is of an old ambrotype, or tintype, battered and faded. The original photograph, however, was made by me in 2013.
